THE PROJECT
ARt:OUT is a European project that uses art and inclusive communication to support the self-expression and social inclusion of young people with psychiatric disorders. Bringing together partners from Italy, Germany, Spain, Greece and Estonia, the project combines Art Brut techniques with trauma-informed, accessible communication to create new pathways for creativity, confidence and participation.
Through peer-to-peer training for youth workers, hands-on artistic and communication workshops for young people, and a series of virtual and public window exhibitions, art:OUT strengthens skills, builds visibility, and raises awareness of mental health.
The project will also produce a multilingual digital Toolkit, making its methods available to educators and organisations across Europe.
art:OUT is designed as a practical, collaborative effort where each partner contributes expertise to support young people in shaping their own narratives—using art as a tool for autonomy, connection and change.
