Over the past year and a half, the WeLens project—“WeLens: educational practices through a gender lens”—has brought together partners from across Europe and beyond to confront gender-based violence (GBV). Through education, storytelling, and collaborative tools, the project aims to support long-term, gender-sensitive responses to violence. Now, as we enter the final stages of the project, we’re reflecting on what has been created and sharing the resources now available to explore and use.
A Magazine That Documents, Challenges, and Connects
Together with our WeLens partners, femLENS has published two special issues of We See magazine. A third is on the way. These publications focus on the structural causes of gender-based violence, its impact on individuals and communities, and the ways in which women resist and respond—both locally and globally.
The “Tree of GBV” framework shaped the approach to these issues. The metaphor explores the roots (patriarchy, inequality), branches (forms of violence), and the climate (social and political forces) that allow gender-based violence to persist. Each contribution—from partner organisations, survivors, artists, and educators—offers a grounded, human-centred perspective.
The third issue will be published soon, featuring new contributions from across the WeLens network.

A Growing Video Library of Testimonies and Tools
Alongside the magazine, WeLens has also launched a new video library. This YouTube channel features interviews, testimonies, and expert insights developed by the partner organisations. It is designed to support awareness-raising, education, and gender-sensitive communication practices.
As described in the channel’s introduction:
“Through expert insights, testimonies, and educational tools, WeLens strengthens organisations in addressing GBV, promotes gender-sensitive communication, and highlights the global interdependencies behind violence and exploitation.”

Use, Share, Contribute
These materials were made to be shared. We hope they will be used widely—by educators, youth workers, activists, and anyone interested in opening space for dialogue and action on gender-based violence.
If you would like to:
• Share the magazine in your community or classroom
• Host a screening using the video materials
• Help us translate or distribute these tools
We’d love to hear from you.
Thank you to all the partners, contributors, and readers who continue to shape this project with care, intention, and solidarity.
