What We’ve Been Up To: art:OUT and ReFrame

It’s been a busy few months across our EU-funded projects. Here’s a quick update on where things stand.

art:OUT
In June, we held a three-day Inclusive Communication Training in Narva, bringing together our project partners from Italy (NoGap), Germany (Galerie ART CRU Berlin), Spain (INTRAS), and Greece (Thalpos). The training focused on communication tools and approaches for working with young people with psychosocial experience — and produced a substantial set of toolkit materials, bibliography resources, and revised programme content that will feed directly into the project’s next phase.

Alongside the training, we curated and installed an exhibition of participant artworks at the Kreenholm complex in Narva, timed to coincide with Artist Day weekend.

Next up for art:OUT: visits to our partners to deliver workshops on self-expression and storytelling and collaborative exhibition planning.

ReFrame: Women in Sport
Work on ReFrame has continued on several fronts. In June, femLENS facilitated a one-day workshop in Narva bringing together a mixed group of journalists, athletes, coaches, and content creators from the region. Held in Russian, the session used the ReFrame methodology to open a direct conversation between the people who create sports coverage and those who are written about — including kickboxer Alexandra Dzhikaeva and members of the women’s ice hockey team Narva Stormgirls. Participant feedback was strongly positive.

femLENS is an Estonian nonprofit working at the intersection of documentary photography, feminist practice, and community education. Follow our work on Instagram or subscribe to our newsletter for regular updates.
