ReFrame: Women in Sport in Narva: A First Look at Our National Workshop

On 4 June, femLENS held the ReFrame: Women in Sport national workshop in Narva, bringing together athletes, coaches, journalists and sports enthusiasts for four hours of conversation, analysis and planning.

The group was intentionally mixed. Content creators, trainers and sportswomen worked alongside kickboxer Alexandra Dzhikaeva and members of women’s ice hockey team Narva Stormgirls, exploring how women in sport are represented in media, what bias looks like in headlines and photographs, and what each person in the room could do differently in their own work.

Early feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive. Participants highlighted the local focus as particularly valuable, with one noting that the workshop “touched on the real problems in sport in Narva.”

The session was part of ReFrame: Women in Sport, a European project co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, bringing together organisations from Croatia, Belgium, Spain and Estonia.
